Where to Eat in Rothenburg ob der Tauber?
1. zur Höll – This tavern is the oldest house in Rothenburg and we HIGHLY suggest for dinner. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time (good advice for everywhere in Rothenburg) and be sure to bring cash (cash only). Here the friendly service is almost as fantastic as the traditional Bavarian food. We can also appreciate its name, “to Hell”, which we would gladly go to to have this meal again.
2. Bäckerei Striffler – The perfect spot for a pastry and coffee right next to Plönlein Square. Be sure to try the Schneeballen here, a pastry traditional to Rothenburg that is essentially pie crust crumbled into a ball and covered in powdered sugar. Yeah, you’ll want a bag to go as well. They’re addicting.
